Description

Mesitylene, also known as 1,3,5-trimethylbenzene, is a colorless, flammable organic compound with a sweet aromatic odor. In haircare formulations, mesitylene serves as a solvent and fragrance ingredient. Its low molecular weight and lipophilic nature allow it to penetrate the hair shaft effectively, making it a valuable component in various hair treatments.

As a solvent, mesitylene helps dissolve and disperse other active ingredients, ensuring even distribution throughout hair products. This property enhances the overall efficacy of formulations, particularly in leave-in treatments and styling products. Mesitylene's ability to dissolve oils and sebum also contributes to its cleansing properties, making it useful in clarifying shampoos and scalp treatments.
