LIPPIA ALBA LEAF/STEM OIL

Description

Lippia alba leaf/stem oil is a potent botanical extract derived from the tropical shrub Lippia alba, also known as bushy lippia or false melissa. This essential oil is obtained through steam distillation of the plant's leaves and stems, resulting in a concentrated essence with a complex phytochemical profile.

The oil is rich in monoterpenes, sesquiterpenes, and phenolic compounds, including carvone, limonene, and citral. These bioactive components contribute to its diverse therapeutic properties. Lippia alba leaf/stem oil exhibits notable antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant activities, making it a valuable ingredient in skincare and dermatological formulations.

In topical applications, this oil may help soothe irritated skin, reduce inflammation, and combat free radical damage. Its antimicrobial properties can potentially assist in managing acne-prone skin and minor skin infections. The oil's natural fragrance, reminiscent of citrus and mint, also makes it appealing for aromatherapy purposes.

However, as with any essential oil, Lippia alba leaf/stem oil should be used judiciously and typically diluted in carrier oils or formulations to minimize the risk of skin sensitization. Patch testing is recommended before widespread use.
