Linseed seed oil, derived from the flax plant (Linum usitatissimum), is a versatile and nutrient-rich ingredient in skincare formulations. This golden oil is packed with omega-3 fatty acids, particularly alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), which comprises up to 57% of its composition. Linseed oil also contains significant amounts of omega-6 and omega-9 fatty acids, contributing to its skin-nourishing properties.

The high concentration of essential fatty acids in linseed oil helps to strengthen the skin barrier, improve hydration, and reduce transepidermal water loss. It exhibits anti-inflammatory properties, potentially beneficial for conditions like eczema and psoriasis.
