HYDROXYAPATITE

Description

Hydroxyapatite is a naturally occurring mineral form of calcium apatite, with the formula Ca(PO)(OH). It is the primary component of tooth enamel and bone mineral, comprising up to 70% of human bone structure. In skincare and cosmetic applications, synthetic hydroxyapatite is utilized for its unique properties and biocompatibility.

This compound exhibits remarkable versatility in skincare formulations. It functions as an effective remineralizing agent, helping to strengthen the skin's natural barrier. Hydroxyapatite particles can fill in fine lines and wrinkles, providing a temporary smoothing effect on the skin's surface. Its light-scattering properties contribute to a soft-focus effect, minimizing the appearance of imperfections.

Hydroxyapatite also demonstrates potential in sun protection formulations. It can absorb certain UV wavelengths, offering an additional layer of defense against sun damage when combined with traditional sunscreen agents. The ingredient's biocompatibility makes it well-tolerated by most skin types, reducing the risk of irritation or sensitivity.

In oral care products, hydroxyapatite is used to remineralize tooth enamel and reduce sensitivity. Its ability to bind to tooth surfaces makes it an effective ingredient in toothpaste and mouthwash formulations targeting enamel repair and strengthening.
