HYDROLYZED WALNUT EXTRACT

Description

Hydrolyzed Walnut Extract is a potent botanical ingredient derived from the green husks of Juglans regia (English walnut). This extract undergoes hydrolysis, a process that breaks down complex molecules into smaller, more bioavailable components, enhancing its efficacy in skincare formulations.

Rich in polyphenols, particularly juglone, hydrolyzed walnut extract exhibits strong antioxidant properties, neutralizing free radicals and protecting skin cells from oxidative stress. It also contains ellagic acid, which has been shown to inhibit the breakdown of collagen and elastin, thus supporting skin's structural integrity and elasticity.

The extract demonstrates notable anti-inflammatory effects, helping to soothe irritated skin and reduce redness. Its astringent properties make it beneficial for oily and acne-prone skin types, as it can help regulate sebum production and tighten pores.

Hydrolyzed walnut extract also possesses mild exfoliating properties, promoting cell turnover and improving skin texture. Additionally, it has been found to have antimicrobial activity, potentially aiding in the management of acne and other skin infections.

In skincare formulations, this ingredient is typically used at concentrations between 0.1% to 5%, depending on the specific product and desired effects.
