Hyaluronic Acid

Description

Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is a naturally occurring glycosaminoglycan found in the human body, particularly abundant in skin, connective tissues, and eyes. This molecule plays a crucial role in maintaining skin hydration and elasticity. HA has an exceptional capacity to attract and retain water, with the ability to hold up to 1000 times its weight in moisture.

In skincare formulations, HA is prized for its potent hydrating properties and its ability to plump the skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It comes in various molecular weights, with low molecular weight HA penetrating deeper into the skin layers, while high molecular weight HA forms a protective film on the skin's surface.

HA is well-tolerated by most skin types and can be beneficial for both dry and oily skin. It helps maintain the skin barrier function, supports wound healing, and can aid in reducing inflammation. As a humectant, it works synergistically with other moisturizing ingredients to enhance overall skin hydration.

While the body naturally produces HA, its production decreases with age, making topical application an effective way to supplement skin moisture levels and maintain a youthful appearance.
