Ethylhexyl Triazone is a potent organic UV filter widely used in sunscreen formulations. This oil-soluble compound, also known as Octyl Triazone, provides robust protection against UVB rays, the primary cause of sunburn and DNA damage in skin cells. With a high molecular weight of 823.07 g/mol, Ethylhexyl Triazone exhibits excellent photostability, maintaining its efficacy even after prolonged sun exposure.

The ingredient's chemical structure allows it to absorb UVB radiation effectively, converting it into harmless heat energy. Its absorption peak is at 314 nm, precisely within the UVB spectrum (280-320 nm). Ethylhexyl Triazone is particularly valued for its high SPF contribution, allowing formulators to achieve higher sun protection factors with lower concentrations compared to other UV filters.

In cosmetic formulations, Ethylhexyl Triazone is typically used at concentrations between 2% and 5%. It synergizes well with other UV filters, enhancing overall broad-spectrum protection.
