ERICERUS PELA WAX

Description

Ericerus Pela Wax, also known as Chinese White Wax or Insect Wax, is a unique natural ingredient derived from the secretions of the male Ericerus pela scale insect. This rare wax is primarily harvested in China and has been used for centuries in traditional skincare and medicinal applications.

The wax is composed of long-chain aliphatic esters, primarily cerotate esters, which contribute to its exceptional emollient and occlusive properties. Ericerus Pela Wax has a higher melting point (80-84°C) compared to other natural waxes, providing enhanced stability in formulations. Its molecular structure allows for excellent film-forming capabilities, creating a protective barrier on the skin that helps prevent transepidermal water loss.

In skincare formulations, Ericerus Pela Wax acts as a thickening agent, texture enhancer, and stabilizer. It is particularly effective in anhydrous formulations, such as lip balms, solid perfumes, and stick foundations. The wax imparts a smooth, non-greasy feel to products while offering long-lasting moisturization. Its compatibility with a wide range of cosmetic ingredients makes it versatile for various skincare applications, including moisturizers, balms, and protective creams.
