Description

Dodecyl gallate is a potent antioxidant and preservative commonly used in skincare formulations and cosmetic products. This synthetic ester is derived from gallic acid and dodecyl alcohol, combining the antioxidant properties of gallates with enhanced oil solubility. Its primary function is to protect formulations from oxidation and rancidity, thereby extending the shelf life of products containing oils and fats.

In skincare, dodecyl gallate offers multiple benefits beyond preservation. It exhibits anti-inflammatory properties, potentially helping to soothe irritated skin and reduce redness. The antioxidant activity of dodecyl gallate also contributes to protecting the skin from free radical damage, which can lead to premature aging and cellular damage.
