DISPERSE VIOLET 4

Description

Disperse Violet 4, also known as CI 61105, is a synthetic dye widely used in the haircare industry for its vibrant purple coloration properties. This water-insoluble compound belongs to the anthraquinone class of dyes and is particularly effective in temporary and semi-permanent hair coloring formulations. Its molecular structure allows for excellent adhesion to hair fibers without penetrating deeply into the cortex, resulting in color that gradually fades over multiple washes.

In hair dye formulations, Disperse Violet 4 is often combined with other dyes to create a range of purple, lavender, and cool-toned shades. It exhibits good stability in various hair product bases, including shampoos, conditioners, and styling products. The dye's performance is optimal in slightly acidic environments, typically within a pH range of 4.5 to 6.5.

While Disperse Violet 4 is generally considered safe for cosmetic use, it may cause skin sensitization in some individuals. As with all hair dyes, patch testing is recommended before full application. The ingredient's color intensity can be adjusted by varying its concentration, allowing formulators to create products ranging from subtle tints to bold, vibrant hues.
