DIOSMINE
Description
Diosmine is a naturally occurring flavonoid glycoside predominantly found in citrus fruits. This bioflavonoid has gained significant attention in the skincare industry due to its potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Structurally similar to hesperidin, diosmine exhibits remarkable vascular-protective and lymph-tonic effects, making it a valuable ingredient in formulations targeting circulatory issues and edema.
In skincare applications, diosmine is prized for its ability to strengthen capillaries and improve microcirculation. This action helps reduce the appearance of redness, spider veins, and dark under-eye circles. Its antioxidant capacity contributes to protecting skin cells from free radical damage, potentially slowing the visible signs of aging.
Diosmine's anti-inflammatory properties make it beneficial for soothing sensitive or irritated skin conditions. It has been shown to inhibit certain enzymes involved in the breakdown of collagen and elastin, potentially supporting skin firmness and elasticity.
Typically, diosmine is incorporated into serums, creams, and targeted treatments at concentrations ranging from 0.5% to 2%. Its efficacy is often enhanced when combined with other flavonoids or circulation-boosting ingredients. While generally well-tolerated, patch testing is recommended for individuals with sensitive skin.
